3 Ways To Succeed Using Web Design Tips For 2018

Blog

When you run a business that is located primarily online, having a website that is set up in a professional and accessible manner is the key to success. When you review your website design for the new year, work at getting rid of sidebars, use larger fonts and create space.

#1 Sidebars

The original purpose of sidebars was to make websites more easy to navigate. However, over time, sidebars have become places that get stuffed with too much information and take up too much space on many websites. When your sidebar takes up too much space, they can distract from the overall flow and feeling of your website.

If you feel that your website needs to a sidebar, keep it simple. Use a sidebar that blends in with the rest of your webpage and doesn't distract from the primary content on each page. You want your sidebar to help people navigate your website, not distract from it.

#2 Font Size

Too many websites try to use tiny fonts in order to fit more content onto each page. This is not a good strategy. When you use tiny font on a webpage, you make it more difficult for users to actually see and read the information on your webpage. You make it more difficult for people to read the material and engage with your webpage.

Use larger font on your webpages and keep your content precise and to the point. This will help grab reader's attention and ensure that they look at all the content on your webpage. Readers are also less likely to leave your website in frustration when you use readable font.

Make sure that you also choose a typeface that is easy to read. Check and ask friends if the fonts you want to use on your website are readable. If they are not, adjust them. Unreadable fonts will guarantee that visitors will not spend long on your website.

#3 Space

Finally, when reviewing your website, make sure that you make open space a priority. When your webpages are too cluttered, it can make your website feel too complicated for readers to navigate and can leave readers easily feeling overwhelmed.

It is better to spread out information over multiple pages then it is to crowd all the information into one small space. This is often called white space. The space doesn't have to literally be white; you can use other background colors. However, the space should be free of text and other information.

A sleeker website design that is set-up to be easy to navigate and read will make your website more user friendly for 2018.
